Call for applications / nominations for appointment to the post of Director

The Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore is an autonomous research institution under the aegis of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. This is a premier national Institute in the country dedicated to research in Astronomy, Astrophysics and allied sciences & technology. The Institute has field stations at Kavalur & Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, Gauribidanur & Hosakote in Karnataka, and Leh & Hanle in Jammu & Kashmir.

The Institute is currently heavily engaged in major national and international projects that include participation in the Thirty Metre Telescope, National Large Solar Telescope and Space-based Visible Emission Line Coronagraph on Aditya-1 mission.

Applications / nominations are invited for the post of Director. The candidate shall be a dynamic leader with substantial experience and achievements in the area of Astronomy & Astrophysics and with a clear vision to lead the institution.

Scale of pay: Rs.67,000 – 79,000 (HAG) with annual increment @ 3% and allowances as per Central Government Rules.

Qualification:

Essential: Doctorate in Astronomy / Astrophysics / Physics / Mathematics or in Physical Sciences.
