Qualification:

(i) A Master's Degree with at least 55% of the marks or its equivalent grade of B in the UGC 7 point scale.

(ii) At least 15 years experience as Lecturer (Senior scale)/Lecturer with 8 years experience in Reader’s Grade along with experience in Educational Administration

OR

Comparable experience in Research establishment and/or other Institutions of Higher Education.

OR

15 years Administrative experience of which 8 years as Deputy Registrar or equivalent post. (as per Government Resolution dated 05/01/2002)

(iii) Relaxation from 55% to 50% may be given only to those candidates who belong to teaching or SC/ST categories or who have obtained Ph.D. Degree and passed Master Degree prior to 19th September, 1991 or those existing incumbents who are already in the University system. The candidate should have proficiency in Marathi, Hindi and English languages.

Pay Band: Pay Band Rs.37400-67000+A.G.P. 10,000/- with usual allowances as per Government Rules. [Minimum pay in Pay Band Rs.43000/-]

Under the Government of India approved scheme, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology (WIHG), Dehra Dun is operating the “Centre for Glaciology”, which is likely to eventually usher into an independent “National Centre for Himalayan Glaciology” under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. Major objective of the Centre is to mount a coordinated research initiative on Himalayan glaciers to understand the factors controlling the effects of climate on glaciers.

To achieve the projected targets and to develop trained manpower and achieve majorscientific goals in these challenging areas of glaciology, the Institute invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for the following positions:

Scientist: ‘C’ : 04 position

Pay Scale : Pay Band-3 : `15600-39100/- + Grade pay: ` 6600/- plus admissible allowances

Educational Qualifications

Ph.D. in any area of the Earth Sciences with first class at Preceding degree, preferably in Glaciology, with fouryears post doctoral experience in the field of Glaciology with good academic record & publications in reputed journals.

Stenographer Grade-I : 01 position

Pay Scale : Pay Band-2: ` 9,300–34800–Grade Pay ` 4200/- plus admissible allowances.

Educational Qualifications

Essential : A graduate in Science/Arts/Commerce from a recognized University with good academic record.

Proficiency in English Typewriting as well as Stenography.

Minimum 5 years experience as a Stenographer in any Govt. organization/University/Autonomous organization/ Undertaking institution

Research Associate: 06 positions

Essential Qualification:

First Class M.Sc./M.Tech Geology/Chemistry/Hydrology/Meteorology/Geophysics/ Physics with Ph.D in the area of Glaciology or atmospheric sciences

Emoluments : Rs.12000/-plus admissible House Rent Allowance (HRA),which at present is 20% during the first and second year and Rs.14,000/- p.m. consolidated plus admissible HRA during subsequent years, subject to satisfactory performance. Sufficient supporting contingent grant for field work etc. will be provided.

Essential Qualification: First Class M.Sc./M.Tech. in Geology/Glaciology/Hydrology/ Meteorology /Geophysics/Physics/Chemistry.

All columns of the application form should be filled legibly in own handwriting. CEPTAM encourages online registration of candidates through DRDO website.

Online facility will be available upto 1600 hrs on 02 April, 2012. To be considered online, applicants MUST complete the instructions in all respects and should apply only once for one post. The candidate must attach self attested copies of EQR and Driving License (for the post of Civilian Driver ‘A’). The details of valid photo identity proof (viz.
